The Peace Guidebook: Introduction
I have been in the process of writing a little book about peace.
It started with hosting some workshops last year but then I realized that it would be better to put this knowledge into a written form to share with people. I started sharing the book with people in May this year. So there is a chance you have already read it. Over the summer I’ve been polishing the guidebook. I recently just added an important piece to Part 1 and I think the guidebook is now finally really ready to be shared with the world!
I call it a guidebook because it’s not very long. It’s more like a pretty 36 page book report packed with all the vital knowledge that I’ve gleaned from other books.
I hope you find this knowledge beneficial. I know it has helped me and that is why I’ve been putting a lot of time into writing and sharing this.
The guidebook begins with the introduction below.
INTRODUCTION
Conflict. There’s a lot of it in the world, and it just seems to be increasing more and more. Why?
It begs the question, do we really want conflict to end? Do we want peace?
Because the first step to attaining peace is to want it. So I’m glad you are reading this because you are on the first step. I do believe peace is possible. Peace is achievable. The thing is though peace takes effort to learn and create, and it doesn’t start at a societal level. It starts at a personal level. Only once every individual has peace will we see peace in the world.
Through my life journey, peace has always been on my mind, and it became the thing that I most aspired to find. Peace came to me in unexpected places and it didn’t happen over night. Peace is a long process, but we can achieve it.
If you haven't made peace of mind your priority, then now is the time. When you are at peace, you enjoy life more and you become more effective in dealing with its challenges. I believe peace is what we all wish for, both for ourselves and for the world, but peace doesn't just happen magically. It takes understanding.
As our world becomes increasingly conflicted and chaotic, it's becoming ever more important that you learn how to create peace in your life.
Through my work and through reading, I've come across very unique insights that I think are beneficial for everyone. So I've brought it all together in this guidebook. I want to emphasize that this guidebook is an introduction to these mental models. You can go much further and deeper into everything I’m sharing if you are curious.
While peace is commonly approached from a spiritual perspective, I approach peace from more of a scientific perspective. In this guidebook, I will break down the science of the brain and how that knowledge can be used to create internal and external peace. Life will never stop throwing stressful challenges at you, but you can learn to overcome your stress so that it doesn't ruin the enjoyment of life. Once you train your brain with the mental models that promote peace, it becomes like breathing.
You will become the calm within the storm.
There is a phrase in the Latin language that I believe is valuable to know.
The phrase is “Scientia Potentia Est.” It means “Knowledge is Power.”
My hope with this guidebook is that by providing this knowledge it will make you feel more empowered to deal with the difficult situations that you will be confronted with in life.
There are four parts of this guidebook which will cover the mental models that can help you create peace of mind:
You will come to know yourself better than you ever did before and understand how through peaceful thinking you can improve relationships with family, friends, coworkers and the rest of the world.
When we have peace, the individual can thrive.
When we have peace, our relationships can thrive.
When we have peace, humanity can thrive.
I hope this knowledge will spread and help the world become a more peaceful place.
